Feeling GREAT during recovery weeks

30 minutes on the Lifecycle today, Core Syn yesterday. Taking it easy and I'm actually feeling great about it. I haven't taken it this easy on my body in a while, so I'm enjoying it in prep for Body Beast in a week and a half!

Back online again after a whirlwind weekend

Ok, after a really bad couple of days following the Coach Summit, I'm back on track.   Personal and family emergencies can really throw a damper on things.  Fortunately everything turned out ok.
I'm taking this week and all of next week as a Recovery Week.  My body has been pushed hard for a long time and I'm giving it a break before starting the new Body Beast program from Beachbody.   I'm stoked about it!  Can't wait to try something new that involves slinging heavy weights.

Anyone out there interested in joining me on the journey, starting July 9?  Shoot me a message: dmheikes@gmail.com

Busy but ready for a killer Summit!

Quick post tonight.  Full day with friends in town riding with us to Vegas tomorrow for Summit.  Looking forward to seeing 5000+ fitness fanatics running around!

We hit the beach run again yesterday, and just did my time on the bike tonight after a full day of touristy stuff.

Lots to do just to get ready to leave tomorrow.

Struggling for a few days, but staying on track

I was dragging a bit again today.  I just can't seem to get caught up on my sleep.  I pushed through it though and did 25 min on my Lifecycle and Insanity Plyo Cardio Circuit.  Kim and I went out to a local park and did it with an interval timer on my phone.  It's funny to me to be able to do the workouts from memory like that with just a timer.

Beach workout tomorrow.  Need to go a little easy on my shoulder but still have some fun to do out there.  I can turn it mostly into a Chest & Back routine.

Shoulder is not liking it

Shoulder did not dig doing Chest & Back today.  I had all kinds of popping and clicking going on, and it was a little sore at the end.  I tried going with some bench presses on a machine at the hotel and that probably wasn't a good way to go.  So it's back to push ups.

I'm back at 141-142 and have to keep an eye on my nutrition.  I don't want to get below 140 again, and can't really lift heavy while the shoulder heals so it will be a trial and errror thing.  I am happy about going to the Coach Summit really lean this year though.

Red-eye flight last night so I had a day-sleep today. Got up and did some computer work, then hit the hotel exercise bike for 25 minutes and did Insanity Pure Cardio. I was pretty gassed at the end. Ended up getting together with a couple of friends and they were going to do Asylum Strength and since I can't just sit and watch I joined in.

Now I am completely wasted, but definitely smashed a few calories today!

I stepped on 2 different scales today, one said 142, the other 141.  Another last week said 142 as well.  I know I'm a little leaner but that's not the direction I was planning on heading.   Hrmmmm.

A little RevAMP Nitro today live with Brett Hobel

Started out the day with a drive up to the L.A. area for a live workout with trainer Brett Hobel of Biggest Loser and RevABS fame.  AWESOME workout, got a great sweat with some incredible people.  The energy Brett brings to his classes and workouts is always through the roof, and everyone in the room pumped it up futher.

Brett is a very good guy and has a powerful story, and equally powerful passion for fitness and helping others.  It was a pleasure to get to chat with him a bit.

time to get back to it

It's been a long time since I kept up this blog, but I think it's time to start back and be consistent with it.

Today my wife Kim and I did an interval sprint run at the beach that a friend of ours came up with.  It's just at 3 miles and involves a lot of stairs and hills, all done at a sprint for 13 intervals that leave you gasping.

I'm not much of a runner but 3 miles seems like about right to me, doing it in 40 minutes with 13 sprints and 450 calories burned.  Add that to the 25 minutes on my lifecycle to warm up before I left this morning for my dentist appt. and it was a good day.

A buddy of mine on Facebook commented recently when I said that I felt doughy this week.  He said if I felt doughy he must be just a ball of flab.  I get that a lot.  Here's the thing though:  I NEVER judge anyone but myself.  I go by what I want to achieve and what I am working toward.  I push myself and I judge myself based on that, not on what other people are doing or think of me, or on what shape others are in.

I think that's a pretty solid philosophy.  The only person we really need to compete with is ourself.
